The Universidad Tecnológica de México (UNITEC), a private university with several campuses, offers a degree in Fashion Design recognised by the Secretaría de Educación Pública, lasting three or four years depending on the mode of study. The programme covers sketching, sewing methods, pattern making and grading, draping, textile fibres and fashion business, with garment-making areas and laboratories for practice. In Mexico City the degree is taught at the Cuitláhuac and Sur campuses, and also at Atizapán, Ecatepec, Guadalajara, León, Monterrey and Toluca; the university also offers a degree in Industrial Design.
