The Università Iuav di Venezia is a university devoted to design disciplines, established in December 1926 as the Scuola superiore di architettura di Venezia; according to its website it was the first Italian university to introduce design studios. Besides architecture, urban planning and restoration, it teaches design, fashion, theatre and the arts: its bachelor's degrees include fashion design and multimedia arts and product, communication and interior design, and its master's degrees include fashion, design, visual arts and expanded cinema, and theatre and performing arts. It also offers a PhD in architecture, city and design, and has a design seat in Vicenza.
