The University of Applied Arts Vienna (die Angewandte) is an art and design university in Vienna offering diploma, bachelor, master and doctoral programmes in fine arts, design, architecture, conservation and art education. Its Fashion Department teaches a diploma programme in fashion design that combines traditional pattern cutting and construction with digital techniques, with its own sewing and knitting ateliers; since the early 1980s it has been led by changing professors who are working fashion designers, and each June it presents its students' work at a fashion show. The university also has a textiles department within art education and a textile technology studio.
