In short
The University of Amsterdam offers a two-year Master's in Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage, with nine conservation specialisations and a separate track in Technical Art History. The specialisations, offered in alternating years, are Contemporary Art, Glass and Ceramics, Paintings, Textiles, Book and Paper, Historic Interiors, Metals, Photography, and Wood and Furniture; about half of the programme is practical work on real heritage objects in small groups, in the university's conservation studios at the Atelier Building near the Museumplein and in the Humanities Labs. To qualify as an independent conservator, graduates continue with a two-year Advanced Professional Programme with internships.
