The Faculty of Fine Art of the University of Dhaka has two departments devoted to crafts. The Department of Ceramic, established in 1961, offers bachelor's and master's degrees in fine art in ceramics. The Department of Craft, where the subject was introduced in 1967, offers BFA and MFA degrees whose courses include jewellery, wood and metal work, tapestry, batik, screen printing, appliqué and fashion design, with reference to Bengal's craft traditions such as jamdani and nakshi kantha.
