The College of the Arts of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette offers a Bachelor of Industrial Design through its School of Architecture and Design, and Bachelor of Fine Arts concentrations in ceramics and in metalwork and jewelry through its visual arts department. Industrial design students learn drawing, form development, physical model making, computer modelling, rapid prototyping and manufacturing techniques. The metalwork and jewelry concentration covers sheet metal forming, soldering and cold connections, casting, enameling and basic stone setting for jewelry, hollowware and small-scale sculpture, while ceramics combines hand building and wheel throwing with different firing methods and materials.
