The University of Portsmouth teaches a BA (Hons) Fashion Design, taught by staff of its School of Architecture, Art and Design, which combines fashion and textile design; its facilities include studio space, print studios, a dye lab, sewing workshops with industrial machines and 3D workshops with laser cutting, vacuum forming and metal, wood and plastics areas. It also offers a BSc (Hons) Product Design and Innovation, with an open-access product design studio, a 3D printing workshop and a student workshop and advanced manufacturing lab where students build and test working prototypes. The university states that the BSc is accredited by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers and the Institution of Engineering Designers.
