In short

Värnamo Folkhögskola, which opened its doors in 1876 and is run today by Region Jönköpings län, has its Textilakademin: a one-year basic textile course followed by an optional extension year. In the basic year students learn to draft their own patterns, sew garments, weave and design both digitally and on paper, and try techniques such as embroidery and knitting, building a portfolio for further studies in tailoring, design, teaching or industry. Teaching is free of charge, with students paying for materials and study trips.
