In short
The Polo Nazionale Artistico for musical theatre and dance was set up in Verona in 2008 on the initiative of the Italian ministry's higher arts education department, and is run by the Verona Accademia per l'Opera Italiana consortium, whose members include Fondazione Arena di Verona and the city's university, fine arts academy and conservatory. Alongside postgraduate master's programmes it runs specialisation courses in theatre crafts, such as costume making, wig making, lighting, make-up and stage machinery. Its two-year costume course, held at Casa Boggian, stradone San Fermo 28, trains costume designers, tailors, dressers and pattern makers in sketching, fabric choice, cutting, sewing, dyeing, accessories and jewellery, with placements at theatres, festivals and costume ateliers.
