In short
The Higher Vocational School of Glass and Secondary School in Nový Bor traces its origins to a school of drawing and modelling for glassmakers opened in the town in 1870, renamed a technical school for the glass industry in 1882. It teaches glass painting, engraving, cutting, art glazing, hot glass shaping, fusing and kiln-casting. Its glass courses are a four-year artistic glass craft course with maturita (glassblowing, painting, cutting, engraving and flat glass), an apprenticeship as glassmaker and glass finisher, and a three-year higher vocational course in art glass opened in 1996. The school also offers interior design, a general gymnasium and pre-school pedagogy.
