In short
The Watch Technology Institute (WTI) at North Seattle College offers a full-time, two-year, 3,000-hour programme in professional watch repair, supported through a partnership between Rolex Watch USA and the college. Students can earn a Certificate or an Associate of Applied Science in Watch Technology and may test for third-party certification through the Swiss American Watchmakers Training Alliance (SAWTA), whose curriculum WTI adopted in 2008. Training covers micromechanics and parts made by hand and on the watchmaking lathe, escapements, hairsprings and timing, from manual-wind to quartz, automatic and chronograph movements, as well as casing, water-resistance testing and case and bracelet refinishing; a new cohort starts every autumn after an application with a bench test.
