In short
The School of Apparel and Art Design of Xi'an Polytechnic University traces its origin to April 1984, when the then Northwest Institute of Textile Technology opened a fashion design programme and a fashion department. In 1986 it created China's first master's degree programme in fashion, according to the school. It now teaches garment design and engineering, fashion and apparel design and performance, as well as environmental design, fine arts, visual communication and product design, and runs provincial research platforms on intelligent garment design and manufacturing; it is on Jinhua South Road in Xi'an.
