The Gemmological Institute of China University of Geosciences (Wuhan) is a teaching and research school of the university, set up in 1992 with the approval of the former Ministry of Geology and Mineral Resources. It offers bachelor's programmes in gem and material technology and in product design with a jewellery design track, as well as master's and doctoral studies and vocational training. The school hosts the China training base for the WorldSkills jewellery project, runs gem testing laboratories and works with jewellery schools abroad, and it is located on Lumo Road in Wuhan.
