In short
The Department of Viticulture and Enology of California State University, Fresno, part of the Jordan College of Agricultural Sciences and Technology, was officially established in 2000, bringing together a viticulture curriculum offered since 1948 and an enology curriculum offered since 1956. It offers bachelor's degrees and minors in viticulture and in enology, with applied, hands-on training in classes, at the Viticulture and Enology Research Center and at the Fresno State Winery. The department states that the winery, licensed in 1997, was the first in the United States to produce and sell wine on a university campus.
