In short
CMA Formation Cognac, formerly the Campus des métiers de Cognac, is one of the two apprenticeship training centres of the Chambre de Métiers et de l'Artisanat Nouvelle-Aquitaine in the Charente, at 41 rue du Repos in Cognac, with new facilities since 2017. It trains apprentices in hairdressing, beauty, sales and cooperage, a trade the chamber links to the Charente vineyards. The CAP Tonnelier teaches how to make and repair casks, barrels and vats: tracing and shaping the staves, bending them, toasting the barrel to bring out the wood's aromas, cutting the heads, testing for leaks and finishing the cask.
