In short

The Urupema campus of the Federal Institute of Santa Catarina (IFSC), opened in 2011 in the Serra Catarinense, runs a higher technology course in Viticulture and Oenology, started in 2015, which it states is the only one in the field in Santa Catarina. The course covers the whole wine chain, from choosing grape varieties and growing them to winemaking, bottling, quality control, sensory analysis and sommelier work, with laboratories that include food and beverage analysis. The campus also offers a postgraduate specialisation in alcoholic beverage technology and, with IFRS Bento Gonçalves, a professional master's degree in Viticulture and Oenology.
